Mobile Interactivity
One of the most rapidly evolving ways to connect with an audience exists through what they are already carrying in their hand or pocket: their phone.
Mobile interactivity is a way of providing information to willing customers who have either taken a picture of a QR code with their smartphone or sent a text to a specific SMS abbreviated phone number. Upon receipt of the consumer’s interaction, the advertiser sends a reply, such as a game, video, coupon, weblink, or product-related information.
Other methods such as Bluetooth can also be used to download content and send information to people's mobile devices. This technology allows pedestrians to access information and download content to their PDAs directly from outdoor advertising panels. It seeks out Bluetooth devices so if a Bluetooth-enabled device is activated within the vicinity, this product will try to communicate with it. The user will always have the choice to accept or reject the content.
One of the benefits of applying these mobile features to outdoor advertising campaigns is that response rates can be measured with a high degree of precision, allowing for easier ROI calculation. Advertisers can also take advantage of pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness.
